Pilates for Rehabilitation

Vanessa Pearce works with physiotherapists to create and monitor rehabilitation exercises for orthopaedic and neurological patients.

She has a special interest in spinal rehabilitation and general back care and her goal is to return you to optimum fitness to continue your sport or activity, your work or home life.

Vanessa became a devotee of STOTT PILATES®, a modern, anatomically-based interpretation of traditional pilates. Following years of intensive study she is now a fully certified STOTT PILATES instructor. These highly qualified practitioners are recognised by physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors as the professionals’ choice.

Workouts incorporate a variety of equipment including the Reformer, Cadillac, stability chair, ladder barrel, spine corrector, arc barrel, jump board, cardio tramp, rotational disc board, mat, Swiss ball and BOSU® Balance Trainer.Other equipment available to aid core strength, improve cardiovascular strength and balance are the Urban Rebounder and X-iser™ which have little or no impact on the joints of the body. The classes are particularly good for back problems because the exercises strengthen the muscles that support the spine. Focusing on this area activates and fires the muscles from within — giving the back an internal brace.

Vanessa is now offering cycling alignment in conjunction with CYKL-HAUS. Like any repetitive, static movement, cycling can be hard on the body. And if you have imbalances or are compensating or recovering from an injury you might just be making it worse. Luckily, London Pilates Studio works in conjunction with CYKL-HAUS spin studio to help you be your physical peak, whether you are cycling in the studio or commuting to work. All you have to do is book in for a consultation with Vanessa and while you are sweating it on on the indoor bike, Vanessa will monitor your form, spot imbalances and put together a training plan that you can execute together.
